RECOMMENDATIONS TO TRAVEL TO VIETNAM

To enter Vietnam need a visa. In principle it must be obtained in advance in Spain, in the consulate of Vietnam, which is located in Madrid , but the great influx of tourism experienced by the country in recent years has put the batteries. Through what is called a pre-visa can get a visa at the airport of entry. The invitations are expected to be achieved by domestic travel agencies, that after receiving your data via email, I forwarded the form via mail. The advantage is that you avoid the move to Madrid and is cheaper, the disadvantage is that the procedure in the aeopuerto is largooooo (an hour and a half), I panicked because I was afraid we would steal the luggage but did not, is perceived security throughout the country. If you are going to enter and exit Vietnam more than once have to apply for multiple entry visa for one month (25 $). Precise take passport photos.

all international airports in the country can get prepaid taxis to transfer to the city and hotel. In Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) airport is within the city and commute to downtown costs about $ 8. In Hanoi airport is about 70 km (no highway) so the price is higher ($ 20-25). To exit the airport you have to pay a toll (50 cents) that is usually included in the price.

SAIGON

The city of chaos. Alternating high and modern buildings with low houses and old. Nice houses with ugly houses, all in one place. Many French influence in general. We live on the street. Thousands of jobs on the sidewalks to sit around on the floor and drink tea or traditional food (I'm not ventured because I'm special). Million motorcycles and fewer cars circulating without any control. Few traffic lights. The zebra crossing is the pass through the lining. We must take guts every time you must cross the street. Drivers do not stop but at least you dodge.
In the center there are lots of shops about brand clothing category or imitations. The markets are interesting but may become overwhelming because the aisles are small and they feel claustrophobic. You have to haggle! The main market is the Ben thanb.

Thousands of restaurants all reasonably priced, clean, good decor and food. To visit: the replica of Cathedral of Notre Dame, Van Hoa Park, Reunification Palace and War Museum among others, but if you're just in time it is best to wander through its streets. When I recommend choosing a hotel district 1, best south park Van Hoa (eg Le Lai Street and Pham Ngu Lao) if you want eonomicos and clean hotels (about 3 stars), or Nguyen Hue Street if you are looking for luxury and distinction.

Around Saigon claustrophobic tunnels of Cu Chi, which unfortunately we could not visit.

MEKONG DELTA

For those who go to Cambodia on the same trip and get away to see the floating villages of Tonle Sap, the Mekong Delta is going to disappoint a little. Otherwise, it is advisable if v as in time. We conducted a one day getaway (get there and back) by bus trip organized by travel agencies in which you can find on the street Do Quang Dao . These are trips that take you as a sheep to visit the delta area closer to Saigon (about 70-80 km), take boat trips and traditional boats while encourage you to buy things typical of the place. Despite all the landscape, especially for those who have not previously traveled to Asia, is impressive and breadth of the river difficult to digest for the English.

HANOI

Capital of the country. More beautiful and orderly Saigon. AC also modern houses with traditional floor skyscraper buildings only, very well-groomed parks and an area in th NTER (the old town) where the number of stores per square meter is amazing. The streets are issues regarding the shops, the most famous of silk. To visit: the Hoan Kiem lake, the temple of literat ura, the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh (open only until 10:30 h), the citadel and the Temple of Literature. The mausoleum is forbidden to enter with cameras, they should be left in a locker. Advisable to take hotel near Lake Hoan Kiem. As in Saigon is not hard to find good and nice restaurants.

Hano Around i can visit the Perfume Pagoda which unfortunately we could not reach due to time constraints.

HALONG BAY

The highlight of the country. To the north, approximately 3 hours drive from Hanoi. UNESCO heritage. Halong town itself is worthless and is rather ugly and dirty, do not even think take hotel there. Paying a little more, well worth booking a berth in one of the thousand boats leave every morning to get lost among the islands of Halong Bay and spend one or maybe two nights at sea. No risk of dizzy (even if you're prone to it.) We got on the boat Jasmin (from upper-middle category.) The price includes not only accommodation, breakfast, lunch and c enas, also excursions by boat to visit the floating villages of fishermen visit caves kayak tour through beautiful grottos, to sea the sun on a tiny beach or climb to the top of the island of Dao Titop to feel ownership in the world. If you are the early risers can greet the dawn doing Tai Chi on the deck of the boat. Great food. Boat employees educated and vigilant. The unbeatable scenery, calm, peace, peace. Without doubt the best in the country in my opinion.

Phu Quoc Island

the south of the country. It comes through with Vietnam Airlines domestic flights departing at different times, each day from Saigon. Approximately 55 minute drive to move into the future Phuket, which is as yet not widely exploited. The island, which produces pearls and considered national patrimony of the Unesco also has to offer quiet beaches for sunbathing, boat trips to fish, reefs for scuba diving or snorkeling. Resort hotels located along the coast south of the capital Duon Dong. The fishing village is very small and has little to offer besides the daily night market where stalls can be found pearls and miscellaneous manufactured products that will solve the problem of souvenir type gifts. In this market you can eat freshly caught seafood cooked at the time you before your very eyes. The bargain price (around $ 20 dinner for 3 with super fresh seafood and drinks of all kinds). If you want you can also dine in the many restaurants there in the same town or on the road between the different resorts and inviting to be visited by their decoration and good smell suggestive of their kitchens. To move from one place to another taxi with taximeter (the distances are not very long, so tours are not expensive). To go diving or snorkeling excursion best to hire and diving schools that are more economical than the excursions offered by hotels or travel agencies. Also avoid having to go sheepish and have plan to visit some sites that interest you (such as factories Pearl) ... say that with the Mekong trip and had enough.

STOP BACK HOME IN KUALA LUMPUR

Our flight made a stopover of 12 hours in Kuala Lumpur (in fact chose to express these times in order to escape the big city in Southeast Asia). Kuala Lumpur Airport, Malaysia's capital, is located about 75 km from downtown. For l leave there you can take the express train in 25 minutes takes you to Central Station train . There you can take the subway, and about 6 stops (brown line, terminal address Putra) off at KLCC, to visit the impressive Petronas Twin Towers and the surrounding area. We did not have much time but if sufficient to delight your majesty both day and night. At the base of the towers there is a mega mall c on big brand stores (not suitable for heart), but in comparison with Spain, they have good prices. There are also many cafes and theme restaurants. As we said shopkeepers in this city always rains, so if you plan to stay for several days, do not forget your raincoat or umbrella.

OUTSTANDING ISSUES:

- The journey from Spain we did Malasya airlines with stops in Rome and Kuala Lumpur. Other options include Singapore Airlines, Quantar airlines, Finnair etc ... is a matter of patience and look for deals with some advance.

- The country's currency is the Vietnamese dong: 1 USD is 20,000 VND and 26,000 euros approx. You can switch seamlessly in airports, stores changes, hotels and banks, dollar to dong or VND including euro (mainly banks).

- Massages offered at any site or on the beaches are relaxing and economical.

- What to buy: wood and stone objects, clothing, silk scarves, faux brands, precious and semiprecious stones, pearls (any color and size), sportswear (nord face for example), lacquerware, embroidered pictures and handmade table linen.

- The country is safe but should not lower our guard. Watch pulls bags in bonded areas. Be careful when crossing streets with traffic.

- Bring mosquito lotion Releco type. Although it is recommended malaria prophylaxis when visiting the Mekong or the hinterland, I did not make (this type of medication given me many side effects). If you protect yourself well against mosquitoes is difficult to contract the disease. Take pain relievers, sunscreen, moisturizer and protector stomach. The diarrhea often more by changing intestinal flora (dysbacteriosis) than infection. You can try Thiorphan if they are very abundant and Lacteol.

- To walk through the city and closed comfortable shoes better (and avoid ending up with black feet), on the beach sandal or slipper type shoes. Hat recommended. Sunglasses essential. A raincoat is not over by sudden changes of time, especially if traveling in wet season (our summer).

- English and French Language (the second less and less).

- internal transfers Vietnam Airlines: affordable, comfortable and effective. Other tourists opt for buses and trains at night, much cheaper but takes longer and may be heavier.

Elbow Turned Red, Hot And Swollen Overnight

RECOMMENDATIONS TO TRAVEL TO ANGKOR: THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA

Siem Reap is a city located in northern Cambodia and has become famous worldwide for hosting around the Angkor temple complex, the cradle of Khmer civilization. The city of Siem Reap and the surrounding area is quiet, but purely tourist crowds. At no time did we feel unsafe. Its people are friendly and co-workers mostly.
The small airport of Siem Reap is about 15 minutes the center of the city. You can fly to this city, apart from internal domestic flights from Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and Thailand. The visa for entry and exit is made at the airport and the procedure may lead to a half hour or less depending on the number of passengers who arrive on your flight. They are $ 20 input and 25 output. Passport photo required (takes more than a case).
The city has many hotels of different categories with very affordable prices. We were in a 4 star resort (Angkor Village Resort & Spa). For transportation from airport to hotel can be arranged with the hotel or take a taxi prepaid at the airport.
There are travel agencies that offer tours or you can hire Tuck Tuck or car / taxi to take you anywhere you want for a pre-agreed price.
I can recommend our driver that in turn made us a guide for 3 days in the area. We were lucky that we play as a taxi driver in the transfer from airport to hotel. We connected instantly, so that eventually we agreed an affordable price for all 3 days, while our service throughout the day and offering an interesting place with maximum time efficiency and also told us many anecdotes of the country and the area. It's a young guy who speaks good English and that is understandable even to those who have a language medium.

OUR ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrive early in Siem reap the afternoon, leaving from Saigon, after an hour's drive. Transfer to hotel and rest. Can be exploited to get around the city.

Day 2: Early departure from hotel. Transfer to the temple of Beng Mealea, outside the site of Angkor, some 70 km northwest of the city (an hour and a half trip to tr birds of beautiful scenery of rice fields, traditional houses and forests). One of the most ancient, little known and less restored. Separate entrance from the rest of the complex of Angkor ($ 5). I can paste is one of the guards of the temple that will take you through the nooks numbers. They do not usually speak English or French, but you enter the ruins sites that may not fall going alone. Give them a tip at the end and expect no less than 3-4 $. Transfer
south of Siem Reap, north of Lake Tonle Sap, the largest in Asia. Our destination: the houseboats of fishermen. After leaving the car we boarded a boat just for us and for almost 2 hours we could surf watching the customs of the area, visiting the Buddhist temple of the village and receive a blessing by the monks. Importantly, the inhabitants of these floating villages live in the waters of the lake feed on your fish, drink its water and waste is dumped directly into its depths. We do not recommend swimming in the lake! After the trip back to the hotel, stopping at a simple restaurant in Siem Reap where we delight in a Cambodian rice that I loved (and I was hooked).

Day 3: We got up super early (at 5 am) to go to see the sunrise at the temple of Angkor Watt. Before you buy into the complex of temples (a world heritage site) for 2 days price $ 40. Usually recommend bring a photo, but make you a digital on the same ticket that is registered on the pass (which is not transferable). not forget a flashlight (we leave in the hotel) or you'll stumble and you have to walk 10 minutes to the entrance of the temple and there are many steps and flush changes. The image is spectacular. Do not expect to be alone. At these times are concentrated many tourists with cameras to immortalize the moment. A visit to most of the temples took 4 to 5 hours. In the back of this famous monument, a huge forest trees where monkeys live very thugs who steal do not hesitate to hand any kind of food you're carrying. After the visit transfer to hotel for breakfast and relax in the pool until 3 pm.
We returned to campus to visit the Angkor temple of Preah Khan. Personally we liked more than Angkor Watt. It is not that great but it has more charm and less crowded. We loved it. It runs in an hour and a half. Later entry Angkor Thom (ancient city of Angkor), an area which includes several small temples (we only visited the gallery of the elephants, and Phimeanakas Baphuon) and higher (Bayon), capital of the city. To get to the top of Phimeanakas or Bayon is necessary to use narrow, steep stairs unsuitable for those who are afraid of heights. Worthwhile, but to pass this hard time for the spectacular and the views. The south gate of Angkor Thom entrance is beautiful, surrounded by a lake or postal typical movie. After leaving the complex we moved to Phnom Bakheng, a small temple on top of a hill, place to watch the sunset. The climb up the hill takes about 15 minutes, as is customary, to climb to the top of the monument is difficult to use stairs, making the process even more charming. Temple very crowded at that hour. After visiting the temples Lin took us to a self service restaurant and entertainment had live. personally I did not like either the show or the food. Duration hours. Affordable price. Finally finished the day going to a massage parlor where we feasted on a traditional Khmer massage ($ 15 hour period, there are cheaper, but we wanted a massage done by professionals). This traditional massage is far from relaxing, "ARE warned!, But who had a bad back or other joints was us pearls.

Day 4: Early transfer after breakfast to the northeast of the Angkor site to see Banteay Srei temple or pink. Unlike the rest, as the name indicated by the color of its stones. Crowded but advisable. Is soon as it is not very large (one hour long shooting). Later transfer to the north, Kulen Phunom National Park which occupies one of the few mountains that are in the area. Price ticket includes been in general pass. After one and half hour climb along a very well signposted and leads to a beautiful stream with waterfalls (Kbal Spean waterfall) and images made with rocks in his bed. In the dry season (November to April) the river flow is low and the waterfall a little disappointed, but worth it nonetheless. Trip time about 3 hours. Again we take the car to go to the city stopping to visit Temple and Ta Prohm Ta kreo, famous for starring in films such as Tom rider or two brothers. It is the temple where the walls are among a huge and spectacular estate. Estimated time 2 hours. Transfer to the hotel to collect luggage from the airport to leave this magnificent country.

ISSUES TO CONSIDER
- Shopping typical jewels (gems, especially emeralds, amethyst, topaz and sapphire) extremely well priced, mainly mounted on silver. Typical pictures. Wood and stone figures. Medicinal ointments smell of menthol.
- Very friendly environment. Refrain from throwing anything on the floor. There bins everywhere.
- There are clean bathrooms at the entrance of temples and the national park entrance, even before taking the bench in Tonle Sap.
- Can speak English and French.
- There are stalls to buy souvenirs in all temples and places to buy food and drinks.
- Important be well stocked with fresh water and it is very hot. Lin had a cooler in the trunk and we would often providing water (included in the price, but we also gave him a tip).
- Better to be respectful of their traditions, but do not say anything, better to have covered shoulders and be covered to the knees.
- the hat for having little hair is essential. Bamba, comfortable shoes recommended type or sneakers. Sunglasses essential.
- Bring mosquito lotion Releco type. Although malaria prophylaxis recommended I did not make (this type of medication given me many side effects). If you protect yourself well against mosquitoes is difficult to contract the disease. Take pain relievers, sunscreen, moisturizer and protector of the stomach. The diarrhea often more by changing intestinal flora (dysbacteriosis) than infection. You can try Thiorphan if they are very abundant and Lacteol.
- Most hotels have pools, so do not forget to wear clothes bath.
- Changing the currency is easy (in hotels, airport shops and change) but we operate every day in American dollars, accepted even at roadside stands.
- You have to bargain to buy, they expect and feel more satisfied if you do. When it is not profitable for them to say clearly that you can not lower the price.
