Intar summarize my trip to Indonesia with some recommendations and proposals based on our short but intense experience.
- Plan Your Trip: the visa, if for less than 30 days, they do at the airport of arrival taxa paying 25 $ (leave pay equivalent to €). It is advisable to take some basic medicines such as analgesics (paracetamol or Keral), antidiarrheal (the Thiorphan), protector of the stomach (omeprazole), anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) and in case any antibiotics (Augmentin or ciprofloxacin). High sun protection. Basic immunization rate tetanus, hepatitis AB and typhoid better too. The trip can be made through travel agents or for free. On the internet you can book excursions with local, although we failed. There are also good deals on hotels type Rumbo pages, booking, rooms or agoda asia. Currency: Indonesian rupiah is now about 13500 RPI / 1 €. You can change anywhere. Either accept dollars and euros. The change varies daily but the oscillations are small.
- International flight: We travel with Turkish Airlines has opened a new route this September (launch offer): Barcelona-Istanbul (3h), Istanbul - Singapore (14h) and Singapore-Jakarta (1:30 pm). The airline deserves a high score: perfect deal, right aircraft, luggage without problems. Another company Singapore airlines is recommended.
- First night in Jakarta, in a hotel near the airport (FM7) because we were tired and we longed to visit the big city. Dip in the pool and fine dining with reasonable price.
- Transfer to the island of Bali by national carrier Garuda (more expensive than the rest, but it offers more possibilities and opening hours). According to the English Foreign Ministry, one of the safest in the country ... Currently in the process to be approved for travel to Europe.
- South Bali: first days in Costa Hotel, Nusa Dua. Transfer to hotel by taxi from the airport, com fixed price (paid in some windows the output of "arrivals"). Nusa Dua is a resort complex on a beautiful beach area and well kept. Very high level of security throughout the island due
the attacks they suffered in Kuta about 2 years. Ayodya Hotel (former Hilton) is a book of tales. Tours of the surroundings: Uluwatu Temple, next to a cliff ... ojito with monkeys that are a little manguis, Tanah Lot Temple, very nice but super crowded ... overwhelmed me a bit so many people watching the sunset at once Dreamland beach, surfers paradise ... like worldwide tourist exploitation is charging the ... construction of hotels, etc., Kuta / Legian / Semarang for lovers the noise and revelry ... bars,
clubs, shops and beaches
mediocre. We recommend the restaurant bar ta ku (coffee Bali Sea) to the fantastic and the restaurant Zanzibar off the beach. The third day fright at 7 o'clock in the morning, earthquake lasting 50 seconds 6.4 intensity scale R. No material consequences.
- North Bali: Paradise unexplored area with no major tourist resorts. I recommend Hotel Resort and Spa Tembok: exquisite, food
very good, wonderful massages, rooms without TV because it is a place of retreat and rest, black sand beach paradise, yoga, excursions, etc ... at a very appropriate (We caught a bid delanzamiento impressive, all inclusive ... with massage 90 min.) In the area you can visit the Batur volcano, as we are at the foot of the north side. On the way to Nusa Dua Tembok Bratan visited the lake with the temple Begudul. Recommended Gif Gig see the falls (I could not see because it was raining cats and dogs and the access floor is very slippery). The rugged landscape of high mountain worthwhile.
- Central Bali: On the way to Ubud Tembok can see many villages along the roads. Mountain Landscape at first, with coffee, snuff and cocoa, then displayed the plains with rice fields. I had spoken highly of Ubud and disappointed me. Caught in the middle of the hotel can
block, near the Temple of the Monkeys (Champlung Sari). A disaster of a hotel with mediocre service and old facilities. The only attraction is the morning visit the issue of monkeys (about 30) to catch food. Ubud is a town with a lot of traffic and shops (such as Kuta) with a market that just grating (very annoying) but where you can find almost everything (art, clothing, spices ...). Visit the Lotus coffee and Monkey Forest Sanctuary. I would recommend staying in a hotel on the outskirts of the village (there are thousands). Eat in town is easy because there are many restaurants, all quite correct and reasonably priced (usually a meal in Bali is among the 4-7 euros with drinks and desserts). Visit to the rice fields typical of this area.
- Lembogan Island: Sannur is opposite (south east) and is the alternative to Lombok, Bali's neighboring island less tourism operators. A Lombok have to go by air flight of 30 minutes. Like us were to cap both airport and controls, we decided to change Lombok by Lembogan, as the transfer is by speedboat from about 10-12 people leaving or Kusamba Sannur. Pa ra
take this means of transport Wear shorts or skirt and flip-flops, and leaving the beach and you just wet to the knees, depending on sea conditions. Lembogan stay in small hotels in some of the cottage there next to the sea. We were in Thai Hai. About 20 huts typical of the area. Shared bathroom but super clean. Sandy beach. And water activities including snorkeling for beginners like me to walk to the beach or at sea (crystal clear water ... and not). No tv ... also a place of retreat and relaxation. You can rent bikes to get around the island or who are more fit to take a bicycle.
- Java, Yodyakarta: in the center of the island. The city itself is nothing more than the Sultan's Palace. On the way there and we missed we had not studied the guide and do not realize that the Palace is in the midst of a walled city (Katra
ng) full of narrow streets and houses, where 125,000 people live acinar. The bird market jumped us (I do not like seeing animals suffer.) The city is very hot and is going wrong. Our hotel, the Palace Innha is 3 stars and small, but the deal is very good. Free Wifi throughout the hotel and rooms. Good cleaning. Rooms tad small. Good price. Area Visits: Borombudur north of the city. The driver picked us up at 5am in the morning and thank goodness! The temple collects a lot of people at mid-morning, so better to go prontito (open at 6 o'clock) and then makes an awful heat. Visit the foot of the volcano Mepati ... active ... smoking!. Visit Prambanan Temple east of the city: large garden .. in rehab for a few years ago was destroyed by an earthquake. Kota Gede district to buy items and silver jewelry. Transfer to Jakarta and departure for Barcelona.
- Transfers in Indonesia: inter-island aircraft local companies that can be purchased at any travel agency or at the airport. You must pay local rates of about 2 €. Within the island it is best to pinch metered taxis or other cars previously agreed price. For short distances the metered taxis are cheap (Nusa Dua / Kuta: 6 € ... which are about 30-45 min ride). For trips to agree with the price per day and driver and you are free to stand anywhere, as long as you want (a day that is between 6-10 h) about 25 €.
- Accommodation in Indonesia: for those who go on their honeymoon or group there is the option of staying in the villas. This stunning private house with pool, whose price varies according to location and luxury. Included in the price of the service, but not food. If you want you can give money to employees of the house and make you buy and you cook. For those interested I can contact a group of English people who rent their super beautiful houses (in Seminyak). We had dinner one night in one of them and we were blown away. Located in a very quiet and secluded.
- We could not visit Borneo / Kalimantan (and orangutans) as we had planned by local agency organizational failure (Komodo Tours Agency, based in Sannur). On this island you should visit Tajung Putting National Park, backup and recovery center for orangutans. I recommend you stay there 3 nights sleeping in ship or cabin.
- Possible hazards: earthquake zone and active volcanoes (just to our arrival in Spain has been in Sumatra island and ... affected by the Tsunami of 2005 ... earthquake of intensity, with fatalities). The danger of attacks is quite controlled numerous police checks by security officers or private. Malaria risk in areas of Kalimantan, Sumatra and other islands less touristy. We did not prophylaxis but if we use protection against mosquitoes (Releco). Monitor personal belongings as anywhere in the world. We had no sense of insecurity in no time. Drink, of course, bottled water, and better to eat at restaurants with face and eyes. Avoid street food on offer in all the places you go.
- Warning: Do not travel to this country the last days of Ramadan because they are Muslim holidays and everything is crowded with hotels and flights over booking.
